Bedroom
You have two options for placing a rug in a bedroom. You can either position a rug under the bed to create a framing effect, or use runners to outline the edges of the bed. If you choose to frame the bed, make sure to extend the rug 24-36 inches around the perimeter of the bed. The main goal of a bedroom rug is to provide a comfortable surface for your feet, so there's no need to extend it behind the headboard. Typically, an 8x10 rug is suitable for a queen-size bed, while a 9x12 rug complements a king-size bed. Alternatively, runners can be a great alternative to a large rug and can be placed along the sides or at the foot of the bed.
Dining Room
When setting up your dining room, it's important to make sure that your table and chairs are all positioned comfortably on the rug. Leave about 22-24 inches of rug extending beyond the table's edges to provide ample space for easy chair movement. If your table has leaves, choose a rug that can accommodate the table at its maximum size.
Living Spaces
When choosing a rug for your living space, it's important to consider the size of the rug in relation to the size of the room. In larger living areas where furniture is placed in the center of the room, it's best to select a rug that fully accommodates all the furniture without creating a crowded feeling. If your furniture is against the walls, aim to place the front legs of most pieces on the rug. This is a great opportunity to add the texture of an Oushak rug to the room. In smaller living spaces, placing a small rug under the coffee table can be effective.
Bathroom
Oushak rugs are ideal for placement in front of sinks or in the middle of a larger bathroom. In a bathroom with double vanities, you can use a longer runner that spans the length of the vanities or two matching smaller rugs in front of each sink. For single vanity bathrooms, a 2x3 or 3x5 size rug is ideal.
Kitchens
Place a small rug in front of the sink or consider using a runner that spans the length of the island or the entire kitchen area, leaving 3-6 inches from the edge of the cabinets to allow the floors to show.
Entry
The entryway is one of the highest-traffic areas in most homes. To keep it simple, place a small doormat in front of the door. If you prefer a larger rug, we recommend leaving 18-24 inches of bare floor exposed around all sides of the rug.
